REGULATION (EU) No 995/2010 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 20 October 2010 laying down the obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the market.
Timber imported from certain countries– currently only Indonesia – must be accompanied by a Forest Law Enforcement, Governance and Trade (FLEGT) license. Importers should obtain these from the supplier and submit them to competent authorities for verification before the customs declaration is made. This submission may be made on behalf of the operator by a third party, such as an agent or freight forwarder. Once verified, the relevant timber is considered legal, removing the obligation to exercise due diligence.
• Vendors must send a draft FLEGT license to EUImportCompliance@urbn.com before they submit the official license to their government for stamping. URBN will check the license to make sure everything matches what is in Tradestone. Once Vendor receives approval from URBN, they can submit the license to their government.
• Vendor should be listing our Tradestone Vendor style numbers on the license.
• Vendor must include the government stamped license with the shipping documents to the forwarder.
• URBN’s broker to apply a CLIENT declaration when goods arrive to register the shipment
