General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR)

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a key piece of legislation designed to ensure that all products sold in the EU markets are safe for consumers. The purpose is to protect health and safety by requiring that goods meet legal, safety, and performance standards throughout their lifecycle.

This regulation applies to all products sold to URBN for distribution in the UK and EU. Vendors are responsible for ensuring that every product supplied to URBN complies with GPSR requirements. Compliance is not optional – it is essential for maintaining market access and meeting legal obligations.

For all products sold in the EU, Vendors are required to provide a valid EU-based Responsible Person address. This Responsible Person (company or business name), postal address, and contact information will be made publicly available to customers, as this is the contact point they must use if they need to report a product safety issue. The details provided will be displayed directly on the product listing page on our customer-facing brand websites.

The aim of the GPSR is to strengthen accountability within the EU. Providing an EU-based Responsible Person is a legal requirement and a key part of ensuring customers can contact the appropriate party in the event of a safety concern.

To comply, Vendors should log into Tradestone and enter the following details for the Responsible Person:

  • A valid physical address within the EU
  • An electronic contact address (either an email address or a website URL)

Detailed instructions on how to enter this information is available in the guide below. Failure to complete this requirement before shipping may result in a chargeback for regulatory non-compliance. If you have any questions after reviewing the guidance, please contact the URBN Regulatory Team (contact details at the bottom of the guide below).
